Where do you want to work ? INTI students have different opinions on where they want to work in futu

NILAI: The unemployment rate in Malaysia stands at 3.6 percent for Q1 2017, according to forecast by Trading Economics, a U.S. based global financial analysis company. However, there are mixed reviews from INTI students whether they would want to work in the country, and some of their reasons are quite interesting.

Mass Communication student Chin Nuo Er prefers to work locally after she graduates. Aspire to join the public relations industry one day, Nuo Er said she would choose her family members and friends first.

“I would prefer to work here,” the 19 years-old said, “working overseas can be stressful, plus salary isn’t my priority.”

With opportunities in many companies, Nuo Er, who’s about to start her internship next semester, is instead worry about her shy personality.

“I’m pretty shy!” she laughed, “Maybe I won’t do well in interviews, but in this few years of study I would try to communicate more, and overcome it before I stepped into my career path.”

Civil Engineering student Hun Jia Zheng explains why he wants to work overseas instead of Malaysia, “I want to experience the different climate,”

“It would be very interesting for me to work in countries that have a different climate than us, as a future engineer I think that would be quite a challenge but surely some thrill in it,” the diploma student said.

After receiving his Sijil Pelajaran Tinggi (SPM) results last year, Jia Zheng said he picked Civil Engineering because it’s interesting.

“It’s a fascinating field of career, and the income of a civil engineer looks stable to me. In fact, it’s well above my satisfaction.”

For international student Sathurshan Suresh, he wants to work here in Malaysia because he has brighter chances here than in his home country Sri Lanka.

“When it comes to automotive industry, there’s a lot of opportunities here,” he said, referring to Proton, one of the car manufacturers in the country.

When asked about what other countries would he prefers to work at, Sathurshan answered Japan or Germany.

“But the main challenge would be the language,” he added. “You would need to learn Japanese or German if you want to work in those countries,” Sathurshan said.

“So maybe I will take the Japanese classes that are provided here in INTI.”
