Smashing Good Times


The smell of shuttlecocks and sweats, the sound of racquets flicking and the satisfaction of scoring that one match winning point.

Over the course of 4 days from Monday 6th of March up till Thursday the 10th, a major sporting event was held by The 21st INTIMA Badminton Club. With the lead of Organising Chairperson, Zoyin Siow, the INTI IU Closed Badminton Tournament was held in INTI’s very own Multipurpose Hall.

Throughout the event, over 150 players had participated in hopes of reaching the top of the scoreboard. The tournament was categorised by groups and individual players. Categories held were Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.

Vice Organising Chairperson, Wong Kin Hui commented on the strength and spirit of the players and how he was proud to see such a turnout.

The final results of the tournament came with Lee Kock Fung taking the Men’s Singles, Kaneshdini Jambu Lingam bringing the gold for Women’s Singles, Kaneshdini and Bjorn Rigson Xavier championing Mixed Doubles.Women’s Doubles taken by Wong Koh Nee and Choong Choe Yee, and Men’s Doubles was taken by Low Yong Sheng and Jeffrey Tan Yoong Soon.

When asked on her thoughts about the event, Women’s Singles and Mixed Doubles champ, Kaneshdini Jambu Lingam told us that “The competition was organized really well because all the general committee did a great job by maintaining a high level or a professional level of the rule & regulations of the tournaments.”

She also mentioned that it was an excellent medium for INTIans to shine as they don’t usually get the chance to polish their badminton talents.
