NILAI: As one of the Civil Engineering lecturers in Faculty of Engineering and Quantity Surveying (FEQS), Lee Hong Pin has been leading the students from Civil Engineering to join over 10 external competitions.

He joined INTI in January 2015, and has encouraged more than 80 students to join several competitions. He says one of the greatest achievements is students winning a number of awards on an international competition, Introducing and Demonstrating Earthquake Engineering Research in Schools’ (IDEERS) which was held in Taiwan, in 2015.

Lee admitted that helping people has always been his greatest passion in life, and he feels proud of his work as a lecturer in the sense that he is making a positive change among people around him.

“You can see that most of the students don’t confine themselves in a box. They become more humble after joining the competition, and the eager to learn have increased amongst themselves,” the lecturer said.

Graduated from University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) with a master’s degree, Lee Hong Pin is currently doing PhD in Civil Engineering (Structural Materials). He takes on several secondary roles on the campus, such as being an advisor for Civil Engineering Club, Chairman for Student Experience in FEQS, and Head of Resident Fellow. Outside of work, he is a treasurer for Concrete Society Malaysia (CSM) and an exco member of American Concrete Institute (ACI).

“I work 24-hours, after office hours, I am a Head of Resident Fellow.”

Lee added that he believes in karma: that doing good will get good in return.
