Pa jeon, also known as the traditional Korean-style pancake, is considered as a famous snack or appetizer among the Koreans, and it is one of the must-try Korean dish! There are various kinds of pa jeon, such as seafood or kimchi pa jeon.

The word ‘pa’ carries the meaning of green onion in Korean, whilst the word ‘jeon’ means anything that was immersed in batter and intermixed with water and flour and pan fried.

It is usually made with pancake mix batter, green onions or scallions, eggs, and can also be made with some other varying ingredients like kimchi, beef, vegetables, or seafood. Pa jeon that only consists of just green onions together with pancake mix and eggs is the most basic kind of pa jeon dish.

Pa jeon taste crispy on the outside, yet a little bit soft and moist in the middle part, along with a chock-full of different types of stuffing like green onions, seafood, and vegetables. And by dipping it into the sweet and slightly salty chili sauce, it brings out the aroma of the filling in the pancake. Well, of course, the pancake is best to be served when it is still hot for you to taste the crispiness in texture.

This dish can be easily prepared at home as you just need to pour the batter into an oiled pan and fried it to a golden crisp on a frying pan. Also, if anyone of you would attempt to make this dish at home, do make the pancake as thin as possible because it will taste much more better!
