Historically, the first commercial cheese factory was established in Switzerland during 1815. But, the successful mass production commenced in 1851 in one of the factory in United States. The factory is located at Oneida Country, New York and was built by Jesse Williams.
During the Roman Empire, large Roman house had separate kitchens in manufacturing cheese. They called it as careale. Romans had enough resources to make various types of cheese. When new techniques for smoking and flavoring were being found, they spread them throughout the empire.
