Graduation of 2018

It is a bittersweet feeling as the class of 2018 graduate after many years of burning the midnight oil. Parents waited for years to watch their children succeed and a proud feeling filled them as they watched their children walk across the stage.

People started to gather around the Multi Purpose Hall (MPH) at 9 a.m. while they waited for the convocation to start. Lecturers gathered outside as they waited to watch their beloved students walk across the stage. As graduates waited in anticipation for it to begin, family and friends began to arrive to watch them take their final steps on the stage as a student.

Among the graduates stood the President of 21st Cell INTIMA, Jaiyakandan A/L Tharumalingam and the class of 2018 valedictorian, Miruthula A/P V Segaran who studied Bachelor of Mass Communication. They both inspire future and current students to work hard to strive to succeed. They both set an example for their successors.

“Cry a little, dust yourself off and dive straight back into life, because to push failure aside is to move ahead, not ignore it, but analyse it and learn from it.” ~ Miruthula A/P V Segaran

“Don’t stress too much on your grades, most important thing is while you are studying, have fun and don’t focus too much on your exams, have a life in INTI and join events.” ~ Jaiyakandan A/L Tharumalingam

Outside the hall, flower stalls were set up for proud family members and friends to purchase bouquets for the graduates. Chocolate, Balloons, flowers, candies, soft toys and other things were formed into bouquets to be purchased. The prices ranged from RM40-50, based on the contents and size. Flower types ranged from sunflowers, roses to baby breath and others.

Some stalls sold a set of flowers and balloons where 3 balloons were discounted if bought with a bouquet. 3 balloons cost RM25 at its original price but it costs 20 when paired with a bouquet.

After the convocation ended, friends and family of graduates spread out all over campus, taking many pictures and making lasting memories. Flowers and gifts were exchanged, and graduation themed balloons were given. Children enjoyed playing with the balloons and its fun patterns and colours.

Joy and excitement could be felt by everyone as they knew their journey as a student ended and their lives began.
