INTI Orientation Night 2018: Enlighten The Scenes
The most anticipated night of the year for INTI International University is back! Hosted without fail by the Social Board, INTI Orientation Night 2018 was a wonderful display of pageantry with an impressive line-up of performances, catwalks and talents. Of the hard-working dozen of students carefully selected, only two get to be Mr and Miss INTI 2018.
This year's event was titled 'Enlighten the Scenes', a spin-off of Hollywood blockbuster genres. The contestants had to perform four catwalk shows each according to the theme, in order, horror, romance, action and Disney. The stunning bunch had to strut their stuff and ooze confidence and finesse while matching each theme, presided of course by the judges.
'I wanted the audience to feel first-hand and immerse themselves in a movie. I don't think movies are a waste of time," said Wong Jing Wen, Organizing Chairperson. "The contestants have to be good-looking and charismatic. They have to go through months of rigorous training, doing photo shoots, and maintaining their fitness. Confidence is key and I think Orientation Night will always be a good platform to engage INTI's students to become self-assured and perform," she continued.
This year's line up were no less fantastic in their performances. At first, they displayed daring acts in the Horror category such as bending all the way to the ground or licking a burning candle before being charming and cute in the Romance category echoing classic Mandarin, Korean and American romance stories. Afterwards, the contestants had to look macho and tough in the Action category as famous superheroes and action stars before displaying a ball dance of whimsy as Disney princes and princesses.
Besides the catwalks, there was of course the annual talent show, where the best performer gets to win Mr and Miss Talent. The talent show was a mix of intriguing performances. From sensual Kpop moves, to ballads and melodies and even some mime acts, 'Baby' dance and quick art display, the audience whistled and cheered for their favourite acts.
It all came down to the final tally of votes, both online and at the booth for Mr and Miss Congeniality which was won by M5 Yihang and F6 Li Ying. There was also awards to Mr and Miss Breakthrough and Photogenic, but everyone was waiting for the ultimate prize. After the finalists went through an intimidating Q and A session, it was finally announced who was Mr and Miss INTI. Congratulations M3 Gino and F1 Christine!
